Dan signed on the bottom line as formality but the course of his decision was going to make signing anything a waste of time. He was a little apprehensive about plunging in to deep end so he hung the sensors around his neck instead of having them implanted.
No sooner did they settle into place than did his status appear on the lens of his glasses that he had also just put on. Yep, that was him. Dan Saunders. The numbers to the left were constantly changing, apparently because with each passing second new information about him was be factored into his valuation. Kind of like a credit score his life was being quantified and to some extent qualified. To is surprise the number seemed to stop ascending much earlier than he thought it should.
” can I explain anything to you Mr. Sanders” questioned the clerk at his assistance. Dan asked, “how do I see why my score is as low as it is” “That is pretty easy” said the clerk. “You need to focus on the menu to the left of the score and when it appears scan down to factors.” “Okay” said Dan. The clerk continued “Do you see the word, negatives” “Yes” said Dan and now I see a list of items… Oh, Interesting” “What you are seeing are those actions you have take which lower your score.” Dan commented “how do I scroll down, this list seems to be pretty long” “Look at the bottom line” said the clerk “It will scroll down one page at a time.” “You can also see to the left a number, that is the number of pages” Explained the Clerk “25” Dan Exclaimed.
There are lies, damned lies and statistics. Data mining, studies, reports, and presentations are all suspect and have a proven checkered past of manipulation and malfeasance. What is going to stop or minimize the same thing from happening.
“Now what do I do” Dan asked? “Well” Said the clerk. You can either start a the top of the list or at the bottom and choose which actions you want to change” “As you change you actions, your score will be affected” was the direction given by the Clerk. “Obviously,” he said “or you can continue on as is and live with the score you so richly deserve” he said half jokingly.
You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time. A quote from the past, which can be made true when the skeptic is allowed even, persuaded to participate in the persuasion process.
With that little bit of overwhelming advice Dan’s attention turned to the mood ring the clerk was placing on his ring finger. “Okay, what is that” Dan asked. “This device is called the mood ring” Said the Clerk. “The name is reminiscent of a similar ring that had some popularity in the 1970’s or 80’s” “only this one accurately displays your physiological state of being.” “if” he continued, “you are lying, being deceitful, or are thinking evil nasty thoughts it turns red”. “If you are honest, truthful, and are not thinking evil nasty thoughts it stays green.” “Any questions” asked the Clerk? “Why is your ring not colored” questioned Dan. “Because” answered the clerk “It is polarized to my glasses so that only I can see it.” “Right now it is yellow because I am not completely in control of my emotions” “I find this part of my job the most stressful” confessed the clerk. ” Ideally, I would want you to see the color of my ring” “but it is embarrassing to not be in control so I hid it from you” said the clerk “but I can see it and somewhere in the list of my negative variables is a word called openness.” “As a consequence” mentioned the clerk you can see to the upper right of your display my worthiness factor” “Which is?” Questioned the clerk. “89” said Dan. “Correct” Said the clerk ” You can trust me to the 88th degree.” “I think, higher, but the algorithm we use in this Avatar gives me an 88” “Even now it has gone up because I am confiding in you and my psychological state of being is agreeing with that.” said the clerk. “The challenge for me” said the clerk “is that my score can not go above 90 without the polarization being turned off.” “That is a lot bit scary” said Dan. “you get use to it” said the clerk “You eventually begin to seek the feed back” confided the clerk. “You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t want to do this”
“The most intriguing thing about this process” said the clerk is that eventually you don’t need the ring to tell you how you are doing”. Dan commented, “I look forward to that day but for right now I think I will keep my ring polarized.”
In the organic programming process of the god complex there is a tendency to do several things. Bias the data, reveal the truth, and educate the public. In that process the general public can be fooled some of the time but not all of the time. Some will be inclined to believe what they will and other will be persuaded to consider the alternative. In each case the individual will act in his or her own best interest and because the power to choose is divested throughout society the impact of foolishness, greed, and corruption is diminished.
