It took quite some time but eventually most societies prescribed to the global mind and operated their cultures technocratically. Not in the ancient sense where a person had to interpret the information available to them and act accordingly but the new sense where the global mind was independent of human foible, bias, or prejudice and a person’s value to society was quantifiable. In the new sense where every one and every thing was interconnected technologically and it was no longer possible to lie, cheat, or steal without the evidence being available to the offended party and their immediate associates.
If there was a legitimate difference of opinion and there was no compromise to be had then it became the responsibility of their associates to express their conscience according to the evidence made available to them by the global mind. That judgment would be recorded and factored into the criteria that was used to established values of the community. In that way the culture of the family groups, the neighborhood’s ethos, and the community’s standard operating procedures would reflect the current thinking and feelings of its inhabitants.
Each person directly responsible for the well being of the other person or people involved would receive an instant message. They were responsible for reading, requesting clarification, and registering their judgment and their physiological readings were recorded. The final resolution was calculated and the judgment made known to everyone and the perpetrator’s value was adjusted accordingly.
Because a person’s merit determines availability, accessibility, and opportunity there was plenty of incentive for the offender to recompense the victim or they would simply go without whatever they were not qualified for. If that meant food, water, shelter, transportation, or luxuries then that was the outcome of their offense and the judgment of the community they were affecting with their irresponsible behavior.
Talk about a paradigm shift. Everyone had to stop thinking about their needs and wants and begin thinking about the needs and wants of the other people in their family, neighborhood, community, city, state, or nation. A person could still ponder what is in-it-for-me but their frame of reference changed.
If they worked hard, kept their nose clean, and acted in accordance to the communities values then their efforts would benefit the community and their value to the community would escalate. Because their value escalated they were qualified to have pretty much any product or service available. The paradox was that as a person’s value rose their wants diminished and their needs were easily satisfied. It then became a challenge for them to strive for self-actualization.
This is where the story ends because everybody would get sick and tired of being nice or trying to be nicer than the other person who was trying to be nicer to them and most people would look for a cliff to jump off of. Because of those, type of, thoughts their psychological value would plummet so completely that, they wouldn’t be able to arrange transportation to get to the cliff to jump off of. They would resign themselves to hell and try to maintain their value so that they didn’t drop below the level of sustenance.
In reality what they were faced with is their own human nature. Some were challenged by any one of the seven deadly sins or combination there of. They were faced with the daily challenge of life and the fact that things break, accidents happen, and weeds grow. Add to that the inequality of life and the inequities of a fallible world. One might be fortunate to live and work in a prosperous society but that wouldn’t mean that the same opportunities existed for everyone else. The age-old adage of chiding a person for not eating everything on their plate now had a real consequence attached to it. A lower personal value.
Even though the world’s population stabilized at just under 10 billion that still is a lot of people to feed and cloth not to mention trying to raise their standard of living commensurate with everyone else. In retrospect there really were meaningful things to do. People just had to get their heads out of their _____ and act accordingly. Shift their paradigm.
