Politics, lying, cheating, and lust for power has so polluted the legal system that a fair and just trial was at best improbable and the more common description was “kangaroo court’. Judicial activism so rampant that even the Supreme Court judges were accused of being activist and their judgments deemed farcical. At the time of the economic collapse and suspension of most legal proceedings the resetting of the system included the settling of the everyday dispute by fiat. Justice was dispensed by a legal program which matured quickly and became so sophisticated and so completely objective that it was readily adopted by every town, most cities, and any state that wasn’t lost to the mafia.
In fact the only legislative duty relegated to the one-term limited political representative was membership in the sun-setting congress whose only duty it was to cast a vote on whether on not to sunset a law sooner or later. Lying cheating or stealing were no longer possible because technology recorded it, and exposed it to anyone in the immediate vicinity. Everyone would know in an instant whether you were lying. For awhile it became a challenge, to quite a few, to beat the system and a forgery industry tried to succeed but the balance of power gradually tipped toward and the Justice-Enclaves, Sanctuary-Cities, Compliant-States, and Participant-Nations. The diminishing outside world became less and less dangerous as more of it became members of the justice complex. With each succeeding organic program cascade the analytical parameters became so acute that it eventually became a game for the majority on how well one could tell their version of the event and whose version was closest to the actual would be recognized. Human nature was never overcome and the temptations to lie, cheat, and steal were always present but the incentives were so small and the consequences so big that those with contrary natures gave way to their competitive inclinations. The majority of others quite simply enjoyed life to its fullest because the evil, wicked, mean and nasty aspect of life was missing. Accidents happen and poor choices will be made but in the instant that it did justice would be dispensed not necessarily physically but empirically. My value, your value was immediately affected by each decision and action. Not because it matched so codified list of rule or regulations but because it enriched the community. It made the place a better, safer, cleaner in regards to the value of the residents. We could all live in trash heap as long as that was the accepted condition of the community. On the other hand if we all to pick up after ourselves and be honest with each other then those associating with us would be valued by their ability to see and disposed of a an arrant piece of paper or quickly admit to a mistake.
Trial by jury and representation by lawyer ceased to exist when our own actions could be replayed for us and the physiological sensors reported abhorrent behaviors. As soon as it became practically impossible to lie and feasibly unnecessarily the legal system changed. Human nature is still intact so the social network also included peer review and a relational value system based not on arbitrary standards but the norms of the locale. A person my have a compulsion to make excuses and attempt to lie but the environment detects the lie quickly and dispels it effectiveness. Eventually, everyone either learns to tell the truth or is valued as a liar and has fewer associates.
