“We have met the enemy and it is us.”
“We are our own worst critic.”
We are constantly at odds with our nature and have to survive in a culture of lies, deceit, and secrecy. Emotionally and physiologically our minds and feelings are subject to irrational urges and outbursts. Throughout history and perhaps to the end of time there will be those urges that compel us to do thoughtless, stupid, or harmful things at the most critical moments either to ourselves or to others.
In the scheme of things our dark side has, forever, stifled mankind’s potential and diminished the almost unimaginable possibilities this existence holds for us. Without the existence of evil, from the inception of man one can only guess what this world would be like. Instead of killing off entire societies, wasting countless lives, and burning libraries of historical and intellectual information, ancient wisdom, and insights to culture, we could be in the midst of an intellectual, psychological, and physiological paradise. Instead of poverty and disease this world would have supplied us with the resources to sustain and support a lifestyle of prosperity and well being for all of us.
That is the imagined purpose of the God Complex or the global mind and the promise of the hyper-technological environment that we have built to envelope us, to assist us, and to enable us. The God Complex acts in symbiotic ways with us to subdue our dark side by exposing it to the light of communal knowledge and for the understanding of people in close proximity to us. We are no less able to do bad things. It just won’t without the consent of the intended victim. At the same time our actions, both perpetrator and victim, will be recorded by the global mind and factored into the individuals profile.
As our dark and deceitful nature is recorded, determined, realized, published, and broadcast by the God Complex. It alerts, associated, bystanders, and mediators of the facts. With each instance, the global mind searches for new “best practices” in relationship to the current “regional trends”, the latest or most effective app is identified and posted for us to see, enabling each of us to deal with the evolving situation. If the circumstances are new or outside of the available open source code, then Global mind alerts the community/crowd sourcing venues of the need for new apps and solutions.
The Global mind helps us to handle our feelings of insecurity, our tendencies to lie or attempts to deceive by revealing those tendencies to others before we can actually cause harm. It alerts us and those around us to our impulses to harm ourselves or others by signaling the possibility and arranging for mediation or mediators to intervene. Our every negative aspect, even the neurotic one, which believes that someone is out to harm us, even if they really, is anticipated by the global mind and made available to to us by the technology we are wearing and which we can visually refer to throughout the day.
The sheer amount of information available to any individual is completely out of our ability to process and comprehend it. The global mind has various apps which crawl the networks and catalog and index each entry. The global mind also profiles us and as our situations require it the global mind alerts us to alternatives and helps us to formulate our response.
It started out simply enough with the invention of the computer and CCTV but with each advancement of remote sensing technology, the inevitable comes to be. As with any profound change, resistance is futile. Modern society becomes increasingly more dangerous because the derelict individual can act autonomously with impunity. No one is safe inside or out of their homes. Even the rural communities become targets for terrorists and gangs. Highway robbers and home invasions make travel practically impossible and our homes essentially become fortified bunkers and prisons. The age-old practice of the police coming after the fact to investigate and report an incident becomes completely unacceptable with crime becoming the norm, not the exception. In place of that the global mind enable each of us to see and understand the circumstances as well as the intent of those we meet. Crime can no longer be committed because deceit no longer is effective and ignorance is no longer the realm of the intelligent person.
The “first world” cultures adopted the new paradigm because they can afford it and the risk is greatest in its largest cities. The rural regions find themselves aggregating into defensive enclaves where the technology can be provided at the most affordable cost. During the interim from secret society to an open one , the good versus bad is engaged in a terrible battle; but in spite of man’s dark side good simply wins out. It wins because the condition of being bad is so miserable that only the most depraved human beings really wants to subject themselves to the filth and ill feelings of the damned.
For the most part, if a normal person has any other option, acting badly is not their choice. Even in those instances where the derelict individual finds himself in a pristine situation where he could lie, cheat, or steal it becomes unproductive because he will be confronted by his alleged target and met with prevention and intervention practices.
It takes awhile before the other options are practically in place but once they are, “good” resumes its rightful position in our societies; but this time it is a byproduct of the new technological not just and accident of the natural environment. Technology enables the best of men to prosper and exposes the worst of man to scrutiny and intervention.
Going back is not really an option even for the darkest side of some men. Even though we are our own worst enemy we are also our own best hope. The God complex interacts and we learn to control our selves with the aid of others. It records our lives and times, quantifies and qualifies our decisions, and broadcasts our individual actions to an associate. Because there will be no one to victimize with lies and deceit only those that want to participate with us will be able to.
Assuming that there are like minded people who will go along in any perversion, even self destructive behavior, it will be permitted but the activities and intentions will not be unanticipated and alerts will be sent to anyone in close proximity who can either avoid the incident or if for some strange reason they can gather to witness and participate in it or be there to intervene.
If the crowd, of like-minded people, becomes sufficiently large then that peculiar value, that they share, will represent the new propensity and preference and anyone included in it will be informed of their new evaluation. In relationship to the community values the new group will be either more acceptable or less and everyone will know it. It is conceivable that whole societies could become perverse and self-destructive. Because there is no collective judgment but also no secrecy the members can discriminate between desirable and undesirable. The experiment will be to see whether we are innately good or innately bad.
The result will be possibly a grand future, a middling existence, or a dismal end.
The attraction and temptation of sensuality and self-gratification is juxtaposed to sensitivity and self-mastery. Those who can resist do and those who can’t, don’t. The outcome is uninhibited but discernible by all. If the new social order can become productive and vibrant it will attract even more residents. However, If it proves to be detrimental to the existing society those inclined to avoid its overtures and alluring sights can do so. Those who want help to avoid its attractions will be afforded mentors. Leaving the old society for the new will be an option with the subsequent loss or refinement of value to old society.
Other societies and communities at risk of being involved or over ran by disreputable actions or disreputable gangs are empowered to protect themselves. As a threat approaches its intent is registered by the global mind and broadcast to the community. Doors are locked and protective forces are dispatched in response. Agents are sent to dissuade the leaders of the movement early on before the threat can gain any real momentum. The perceived inequities or innate prejudice are addressed and either remediated or exposed as fraudulent motives. If necessary defense become offensive intervention by identifying the lead character and his or her intent to do harm. If it is determined that their psychology is out of balance with the norms of positive personal behavior they can in fact be isolated from society. The guiding principle is simple. No one has any right to physically harm anyone else. The issue is the perception of harm and in that case it is physical only. Emotional well-being is the whetstone of personal character and the motive for the individual to find their relative space.
Fortunately, every individual must learn the lessons learned as they are confronted by the temptation of their nature and the season of their lives. The notion of prudishness and the concept of abstinence are as real as the ideals of self-actualization and indulgence. Both ideals are practiced and presented to the individual. During childhood the educational function of this existence introduces conflicting values and behaviors only under the influence of the global mind in an unbiased manner. The teachable moments interacts with each child allowing them to choose their preferences. The lessons taught are inherently balanced by the global mind and the countless applications filtering the available information. If a child’s preference is sensual then the sensuous is also presented in an equally compelling manor. The artificially intelligent teaching system and the human intellect becomes objective. Thoughtful is compared to thoughtless. Helpful is illustrated against helpless and so on. The child’s predilection is determined interventions are insinuated throughout the teaching process. The concept of ignorance when it comes to perverse or self-destructive behavior is a societal norm. Nothing good comes from it and even though it is not restricted the collective conscience knows it. In those societies where prudence and mastery are highly valued the educational experience does not include the prurient aspects until necessary for educational purposes if at all.
