The takeover of the world is never easy and as a rule it doesn’t occur over night. Such is the case with the God Complex. The organic programs that started the whole process were insignificant and unobtrusive. They simply were applications of convenience and assistance. Over time people became dependent upon them and relied on their assistance in everyday life. The adoption and expansion of eventual Global Mind program was as natural as breathing. Once its value became apparent there was an effort to capitalize upon it. Groups, organizations, and enterprises soon enough initiated a more formal use of the system because it ensured the outcome and stabilized interactions. It began to be used as an facilitator of conflict resolution because of it ubiquitous presence and objective perspective.
Coincidentally fear-mongers, skeptics, and opponents were actively engaged in the struggle to dissuade people from becoming addicted to the sinister use of the computer to make people do good and be good.
What resulted was a clear division and polarization of the societies infected or energized by this demonstrably better way to interact with one another. It didn’t take long for enterprises to utilize the GM capabilities to segregate their users from non-users. If you subscribed to the principles and availed yourself of the accouterments you would be inducted into those areas where it was safer, cheaper, and more honest to be than outside of them. Most people desired to be in a world where you were respected for who you were, where your accomplishments were valued not in comparison to others but to yourself, and where it was easier to try to be better because you knew how you were doing and you had support doing it.
During the transition from uninformed to informed, independent to codependent and from unwilling to willing the battle between good and evil was elevated to displacement of evil with good. It was no longer the difference between right and wrong but between good, better, and best.
There are always those who refuse to partake and they were simply isolated and allowed to devolve into an objectionable human being allowed to sustain themselves by working at the lowest level of participation they had to receive even the minimal sustenance and have access to shelter. If they wanted to they could sleep under a bridge or on a ventilation grate but the only time they could get food would be in exchange for some labor such as picking up or cleaning some portion of the community.
This is completely justified and defensible because the person’s behaviors were documented; his or her physiological and psychological scans were available to the GM for processing. The calculations of their value to society were compared to the established norms of the society and they were allowed food, water, and shelter at a commensurate level.
It was only a matter of time before everyone was actively involved in the processes of life and procedures of society. Those who aspired to advance could do so and those who did not were allowed to choose their level of participation.
