Mankind has evolved, not in the biological sense, but in the civilization sense from the hunter-gatherer starving between meals to the too often obese, town and city dweller swiping his welfare card or walking past the RFID scanner to determines the availability of goods and services to him or her.
From the individual of a family whose worries are local and personal to the individual of a civilization whose worries are of no consequence. The administrative developments of societies, as a means of combating the mongrel’s, the ne’er-do-well, and the scoundrels gave way to the popularly, too often fraudulently, elected big governments politicians with their policies of socialism, wealth redistribution, their elitist cronyism, and self-enrichment.
Interestingly enough, the story doesn’t end there. It continues and so does the social evolution. But where does it go from there? If the past is any indication and obviously it is, then the future is going to be better. The future is going to be more peaceful than the past and more prosperous than the previous. Depending on how far into the future one is willing to project it is possible to envision a time when every thing that was once wrong with mankind will be corrected and everything that is right with mankind will be possible and enjoyed to the maximum extent by the maximum amount of a limited number of people.
How does this come about? How is it inevitable? It is in our genes and our character. How else would we be where we are if it were not true. Surely by now man would have killed himself off or devastated his environment to the point of extinction. But he hasn’t. Things are bad in many places but the prospects look good and the potential is positive. This has been going on for millennia. Man and women’s progress seems inevitable even to the point of nirvana. Nirvana being defined as the current well being of human kind. Not having evolved beyond their temporal and carnal nature but sufficiently enabled by technology and personally submissive enough to relegate the extreme elements of their kind to sanctuaries, reserves of managed individual, or institutions of care and control for the extreme ends of the continuum.
Of course nature being what it is surfaces in some individuals compelling them to take contrary attitudes and disruptive behaviors throughout the continuum as well. Dealing with the anomalies and the extremes have always been the challenge of society. Secrecy, deception, gullibility, lack of integrity, and laziness were the bane of mankind disrupting progress and leading to discontent, hate, and murder along with all of the other maladies of a dysfunctional species.
Enter the global mind, the god complex, a technological enterprise so thoroughly integrated into the human endeavor that all of the dysfunctional attributes and harmful enterprises are neutralized changing the contrary paradigm to that of amicable. Because every single participant is enabled by technology to discern what is adequate, appropriate, and allowable both for themselves as well as that for others the incentive is synergistic not antagonistic. Leading to prosperity and harmony.
In the dwindling areas where technology was practically unavailable or insufficient for the residents who chose to live there and for the diminishing few who wished not to participate in the good things that life has to offer both are relegated to an existence not devoid of sustenance but at the mercy of each other. Unlike the past where survival of the fittest was enabled by technology and insured by secrecy the present and the future enables the well being of average even the “challenged” because technology and the society does not allow them to be taken advantage of or left out. The world is still unfair and inequitable but the unfairness is minimized and quantified and the inequities are accounted for and qualified. Life is sustained, opportunities enhanced, and the harmonious existence of the diversity of life and preference is safeguarded within the compromise of stewardship, sacrifice, and self-mastery. Not because mankind evolved into something that it can not become but because technology evens the playing field, the aggregated values of each society is determined by its constituency, and the allows the individual to discriminate without being discriminatory. People will be able to associate with like-minded people knowing for certain that they are truly and honestly like minded.
And so the story begins…
